I love a good semi-homemade dessert. Did you guys ever watch that show Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee? It was one of my favorite shows as a young mother about 10 years ago. I LOVED how she used store bought items and mixed them with homemade goodies.
This recipe is just like that. You take a store bought cake and whipped topping and top it with homemade strawberry mix.
How to Make Easy Strawberry Shortcake

Begin by washing and cutting up your abundance of strawberries! You can freeze any extras you might have for another recipe.
Next, add the sugar and mash the strawberries by hand with a masher like this one I found on Amazon! This also makes a great strawberry ice cream topping. My dad use to make this all the time.
Cut a piece of cake and top with whipped topping and strawberries. You can use cool whip or most bakeries have homemade whipped topping ready to purchase!
Store the extra strawberries covered in the fridge for up to three days.
