A cozy holiday twist on a bold Italian classic
Last Christmas, I made this drink on a whim after watching Ina Garten make a classic shakerato. I loved how elegant and simple it looked. With me being a coffee lover and a non drinker I’m always on the look out for fancy drinks to add to my collection. This is really as easy as it gets. Espresso, ice, and a good shake. But of course, I had to give it a little Christmas flavor!
So I added the stars of the Christmas season whipped cream and cinnamon. After one sip, I was hooked. Like. OMGGGGEEEE full-on addicted. It became my treat at least once a week, leading up to Christmas. The way it chills and froths in the shaker feels almost to easy and that first creamy, spicy sip tastes like a hug in a glass. I thought right away I could serve this at a Christmas party, my Favorite Things or any holiday Christmas get togethers. I think you’re gonna LOVEEE this one!
You’ll just need a cocktail shaker, some strong espresso, and a few pantry staples. Shake it all together with ice for 30 seconds until it gets super cold and frothy. Pour over ice, top with a dollop of whipped cream, and finish with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
And if peppermint is more your holiday flavor then swap the cinnamon for a splash of peppermint extract OR crushed candy cane. Wouldn’t that be so cute? For a little color too. It’s a little more playful, still cozy, and just as delicious.
This Christmas mocktail is perfect for hosting girlfriends or serving up at your holiday party. This would be a great addition to your morning coffee too. Can’t wait for you all to try this one.
