Sometimes ideas just hit me in the middle of the night, and I can hardly wait to get up and try them. This project was one of those. I’ve always loved the DIY Christmas trees made with donuts over the years, but I wanted to do something a bit different. That’s when the idea to make a wreath out of donuts came to me! See a step by step video of my Christmas donut hole wreath!
At first, I was going to lay them out on a round tray or some type of board, but I thought—there has to be a way to hang them. So I looked up a few options and landed on this little piece that’s usually reserved for closets. After that, the rest is history!
THE Christmas Donut Wreath was born. It’s festive, ridiculously easy to make, and always gets THE BEST compliments.

Here’s everything you’ll need to build this beautiful edible Christmas wreath!
How to Make It (Step-by-Step)
-
Start with the base.
Purchase an 11.7-inch foam wreath form from your local craft store or online. This will be the base for your donut wreath. -
Wrap it up.
Cover the entire foam wreath tightly with plastic wrap, wrapping it around 2–3 times to fully protect the surface. This keeps things food-safe and makes cleanup easier. -
Add the donut holes.
Using toothpicks, attach each donut hole to the foam wreath one by one. Start on the inner ring and work your way outward for a full, layered look. Alternate flavors or colors for extra visual appeal. -
Fill in the gaps.
To give your donut wreath a festive pop, insert fresh cranberries (also using toothpicks) into any open spaces between donuts. These act as beautiful, natural accents. -
Dust with “snow.”
Lightly sprinkle powdered sugar over the entire wreath for a snowy, magical effect. -
Make it a hanging wreath.
Place your finished donut wreath on a purse hanger or decorative hook so it looks like a real hanging Christmas wreath. -
Add the finishing touch.
Attach a bow to the top of the wreath for that final holiday flourish. Choose red, plaid, or velvet ribbon for a classic look. -
Serve or store.
This donut wreath is best served right away, but you can also cover it loosely and refrigerate until your guests arrive.
This Christmas donut wreath is the perfect centerpiece for a brunch buffet, a cozy breakfast with family, or even a fun edible gift idea. It’s the kind of easy wow-factor project that brings joy and sugar.
