I am so excited to begin our makeover with The Home Depot! We will be doing both a pantry makeover and adding a murphy bed to the home office. We chose to revamp our kitchen pantry because it was in need of some functionality and of course design. The Home Depot also has custom storage solutions for every room of the house. You can transform your closets, pantry, laundry room, entertainment center and more! That’s why we utilized Home Organization Services for our Home Depot Installation! It is also reassuring to know that all of Home Depot’s trusted installers are local, licensed, insured and background checked.
Making the Appointment
Once you have a project in mind, setting up an appointment to get expert advice from a Home Depot design consultant is easy. You can schedule your consultation appointment right from Home Depot’s website. You can choose to have a design consultant come to your home for an in-person consultation. A huge benefit to this option is that your design consultant will take all the measurements themselves! If you are more comfortable with or if it’s more convenient, you can also choose a virtual consultation. You will be responsible for taking your own measurements and then video chat with a design consultant to go over the product samples and all of your options!
Wait, did I mention that the consultation is FREE?!
You won’t regret working together with your consultant to design your perfect storage solution! And I bet you will have fun choosing the color, hardware finishes and all of the other details. Best of all, your consultant will provide you with a 2D or 3D rendering of your design so you can actually visualize your project!
Measuring the Space and Finalizing the Details
Once you have your quote and decide that you’re ready to move forward with the project, you will schedule another time with The Home Depot. Your consultant will review your project with you and verify the measurements of your space. We all want the measurements to be exact! Once the details are finalized, we’re ready to place our order!

One Beautiful Pantry and a Hidden Murphy Bed
Our office has had many functions over the years. First it was an office, then it was a den and back to an office again! Now it’s just a big room with a bunch of desks in it. Ha!
Our pantry, on the other hand, was more functional, but I thought the space needed to flow a bit better. It also needed a dose of pretty! The pantry REFUSES to be the ugly stepsister anymore lol! She demands to be seen and noticed… so we are going to elevate that space with some great elements.
I started my projects with an online consultation. I was able to share my vision and brainstorm all of my ideas to create both a pantry and murphy bed that fit my family’s needs. I ended up with an in-home consultation as well to finalize the details and make sure the measurements were just right!
Crystal, my consultant, was so kind and knowledgeable about the installation of both the pantry and murphy bed. She has helped many clients over the years to build their dream projects. When I gave her my ideas, she was so excited to bring them to life! She listened to my wants and needs and made sure that all my must-haves were not left out!

When I was thinking about the things that were important to me as I was envisioning my pantry, I knew that the look of the cabinets and the storage the space would provide was going to drive my decision making.
The Home Depot has many storage options. I wanted to make sure I had plenty of space for both food and kitchen appliances. A must-have was for the cabinets to go all the way to the ceiling! I did not want to waste ANY space! I was also looking for drawers to hide the clutter that can be associated with a pantry! The Home Depot had so many cool options that I didn’t even think about. There were specialty drawers that you can order to hold your vegetables! They even have smart storage solutions like wine storage or roll out bins or a sheet pan separator!
The cabinet color was a big one for me. I needed the cabinet color and style to flow with the rest of the house. I wanted a clean look that wasn’t white ( our kitchen in white) So we ended up choosing a color that complimented our wood tile floors.
I also needed the pantry to have character. I really wanted to add open shelving and some glass cabinets to break up the space. Because we chose open shelving, it was important to me for the back of the units to be the same as the cabinet color, which is an upgrade, but I think it is worth it! You’ll see that we didn’t do the same in the murphy bed because it is not exposed.
We included some other details that I think you’ll notice to add elegance to our space. Crown molding and baseboards were the perfect final touches! Those are the small things that really make it come together!
My wants were pretty much the same when it came to building the murphy bed. We wanted storage and style!
Murphy beds are not new to the scene. Murphy beds are hinged at one end and fold up vertically against a wall. This is a cool option for small rooms because it saves so much space! I love how the murphy bed is a multifunctional piece of furniture and brings versatility to our space!
We decided to go with a dove gray cabinet color to keep things simple. The most important part of the design was surrounding the bed with storage so that at a glance, it looks like a wall of cabinets. This is what separates good murphy beds from poorly designed murphy beds in my opinion! When the unit looks hidden, you’ve achieved the best results!
I’m most excited about all the extra storage! Tucked away inside the murphy bed cabinets will be bedding as well as office supplies. There is even storage space for our guests when they come to visit! And best of all, there’s even room to hide all the extra “stuff” that is lying around the house!
Crystal really helped me to build a murphy bed unit that perfectly fit my vision. I can’t wait to see it come to life!
Delivery and Installation
I love the anticipation of completing a new project especially if it involves a home update! It will take about 4-6 weeks for Home Depot to design, build and install your storage solution from the time of your free consultation. Of course, that timeline might vary depending on the complexity of your project.
When your organization system is ready to be delivered, Home Depot will schedule a time to come install your system. They will even remove and take away any existing organization system you are replacing! Isn’t that great! Your installation will be completed 1-3 days following delivery! You won’t regret utilizing Home Depot installation services!
