I can’t wait to share with you all these bible verses about a mothers love for her son! I have two beautiful boys that God has blessed me with ( and a girl Livy!) I feel like so many of you’ve seen them grow up from toddlers to young men! When I first stared Just Destiny ( A Place for Us back then) my entire goal was to share! Share my ideas and projects and connect with you guys from all over the world.
Apart of that world has been my sharing my faith and God’s word. In a story, in the way I decorate my home, or the simple way we used bible verses to bless our home when we built!
Apart of that world has been my sharing my faith and God’s word. In a story, in the way I decorate my home, or just bible verses here and there.
I purchased this book from Amazon during the lock down and it has been such a great resource for me as I pray for my boys! It helps guide my prayers and helps me think about some of the struggles they might face as they grow into men. So it inspired me to share some of the bible verses I’ve read and prayed as I continue to raise my boys. My prayer is that I raise children of God! That the spirit of God would bring them great joy!!
Bible Verses about Mothers Love for Son
Believe God when he says “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16: 33 This verse gives me such peace because even while I raise my boys ( and Livy)I remember this. Nothing in is word is said in vain so I know this to be true. We can’t avoid the trouble the world will bring but we can be confident that in the end God has won.
Here are some of my favorite bible verses for my sons as they face the world. From a real mother to her real sons. These are also great for birthday bible verses for your son or graduation bible verses for your son! Write them on a card or other items to hold on to as they journey through life.
Bible Verses for Son who has Lost His Faith
There might be a time when your baby boy ( now a baby man child lol ) decides your faith is not his faith. It breaks your heart but there is always hope and a mother’s prayer is strong. Hold on to this verse as you pray for your son to return home and to love the one who created him.
“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.
Mathew 18:12-14 NIV
You might have a son who love’s God with all his heart. Loves to go to church, loves serving and you can even see him in ministry! But then something happens that rocks his faith. Tragedy, the expectations of people or just heartbreak can rattle any humans faith. Your son is no different. If he’s going through a season where you see him slipping away from God and his word remember this as you pray from him.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV
Bible Verses for your Son as He Makes Friends
Navigating friendships are apart of life. Your son has gone from you planning playdates to hangouts at the movies. Our prayer as moms is that they have good friendships. Ones that are a good influence. But there is one thing we all know. The older they get the less control you have over those choices. Pray for your sons friendships because they matter!
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NIV
Bible Verses for your Son as he Plans the Future
My boys love talking about the future. I love hearing them express their dreams. Over the years I’ve heard them talk about being an artist, a sports agent, NBA player, animator, the list goes one. But the future is coming. If you find yourself a little worried, the bible says to PRAY because guess what? God has a plan for your son. So lead with this verse:
LORD, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps. Jeremiah 10:23 NIV
Bible Verses as your Son Faces Temptation
I always tell my boys that there’s a certain time when you are fair game to the evils of Satan. Maybe it’s the moment when they decided to own their faith in God or face their first real temptation when they know there is a wrong and right. There is darkness on this side of heaven that your son will face. Remember this as you pray for him.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Ephesians 6:10-13 NIV
When I think about my boys now who are now teens, there is one word that comes to mind and that’s being a bit impulsive. They make choices without really thinking about the consequences. Not necessarily getting in trouble with mom and dad ( they know that’s coming lol!) But more about how their actions or choices effect other people. Hurt feelings and reputations are at stake if there is no value over self control. If you have a son who is learning this valuable lesson here is a verse for him:
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Titus 2:11-14 NIV
Bible Verses for your Son when he’s Scared
Sometimes our boys find themselves in a situation where they’re scared. A look on their face or just a mothers intuition lets us know that are boy is facing something new or something unknown. This is another part of life that they will have to overcome not with their own strength but with God’s strength.
The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.
Psalms 27: 1- 5 NIV
I pray that my boys always have the courage to stand up for what is right. But that is always easier said than done right? I hope that if they find themselves in a situation where their integrity is in jeopardy that they have the faith and courage to do what is right. Send this to your son as a reminder or help this lead as you pray for him.
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Proverbs 31:8-9
Bible Verse for Your Son Who’s Rebellious
Rebellion usually happens in the teen years and for good reason. Our sons have been exposed to new ideas and new temptations. Authority is resisted and your son wants freedom from your world. Ask God for an abundance of wisdom as you navigate this season. Trust God and continue to pray for your sons heart to be made new.
Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.
Psalms 32:9-10 NIV
Sometimes our sweet boys need a little motivation. Growing up is hard work and in order for them to step into manhood confidently they will need to learn to overcome feelings of boredom and to be productive!
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1: 3-8
Bible Verses for Your Son who needs Humility
Humble pie is not just for the grown ups. Our boys need a slice or two. They might be really gifted in a particular sport or skill and seem to be bragging about accomplishments a little too much. You recognize it, address it but ultimately you know you must take it to God. Again this is nothing new right? The human condition is complex and being proud is one of those conditions. Start with knowing that your son is HUMAN and that we all have different battles we will face on this side of heaven. The goal here is to remind your son of where all his gifts come from. To cheer him on while pointing towards Christ. Remember this verse as you ask for wisdom.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:3-11 NIV
Bible Verse for Your Son who Needs Encouragement
On the other side of too much humility is not enough confidence. Confidence is a good thing when harvested the correct way. We all need it to walk through this life. On our own, confidence can get as out of control as a wildfire. But in step with God and his word, it can lead your son to new heights. If you see your son struggling with confidence in himself, his gifts or his worth lead with this verse as you say a prayer on his behalf.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. I have made a fool of myself, but you drove me to it. I ought to have been commended by you, for I am not in the least inferior to the “super-apostles,” even though I am nothing. I persevered in demonstrating among you the marks of a true apostle, including signs, wonders and miracles.
2 Corinthians 12:9-12
Remember you and I were called to do this. No matter the circumstances we are equipped to raise these boys. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming. But call on God to help you navigate raising your sons. Read that bible, hold onto these bible verses for your sons, say those prayers of thanksgiving and have hope that your son will step into manhood with love for the Lord. With all his heart, mind and strength. AMEN!
