I must admit, I’m not the best at keeping goals. I can make goals like no ones business. I can write them down and list them from the most important to the least. I can even have the best intentions at keeping my goals. But at the end of the day, my goals usually merge and become one big mess. Well maybe not a mess, but certainly jumbled and forgotten.
But it still doesn’t stop me from making them! So with that disclosure in mind, here our some of my goals for the year 2016!
I thought I would just add that on there cause it’s mandatory right? Lets go ahead and get that out-of-the-way.
♥Read 5 books this year.
I love reading. Real books and tablet books. It doesn’t matter to me. I also discovered that I actually love LISTENING to books too. I downloaded this app called Audible an Amazon company and it allows you to listen to your favorite books. The down side is that most of the time the audio version is more expensive than the actual book. But I love to listen while I’m taking a bath or cleaning up around the house. It’s AWESOME! I also put it on 1.25 speed so I can hear more in less time. So this year I will read 5 book. Why 5? Im not sure, it seemed like a good number :0) I’ll let you know how they go right here on the blog!
♥Organize my email mailbox. It’s out of control guys. I have 42,000 unread email. So if I haven’t responded to you in the last 4 years then you know why. Good news is that you will finally get a response! Yay!
♥Wake up to a clean kitchen
I know some of you are shocked right now. In disbelief that I don’t wake up to a clean kitchen every morning. Domestic shame. But it’s true. Some lessons are only learned over time and this is one of them for me. I hate cleaning the kitchen. Most of time I avoid any meals with chopping just so I don’t have to wash extra dishes. haha. Or I just avoid cooking all together. But I think I MIGHT hate waking up to a dirty kitchen even more that all that.
♥ Girl Day or Weekend with Livy
She will be 6 this year. It’s time to start that Gilmore Girl thing…haha. But seriously. Intentionally making time with her is important. She has a 50/50 chance of turning out like me during the teenage years, so I’m thinking she will need to know her momma is someone she can talk to..always.
Small groups, marriage mentoring and volunteering is something that Reggie and I continuously do at our church. I love our church. Last year was tough with the death of our pastor and friend Greg, so it’s obviously been going through a transition period. But this year I plan on taking control of my own spiritual growth. This means routinely reading the word. To STUDY the word of God, through the eyes of a wife and mother. There will be so many ways throughout my years on this earth that I continuously build my relationship with God. This seems like the next step! The truth is, I love to learn! So this will be exciting. Taking notes, journaling, etc. are all up my alley. Plus I know God wants us to enjoy studying his word. It’s something I continuously pray for!
I also have this idea on how I can help my kids take control of their spiritual life too! I’ll let you know how it goes!
♥Finish Cut Outs in Family Room
I’ve had a great idea about using the space. This year I WILL DO IT!!!!! i think. maybe. yes.
♥Replace floors and rip out carpet on the stairs.
If you follow me on Instagram then you know how I feel about my floors. My high maintenance wood floors. I appreciate them, I really do. But they gotta go. That and the carpet on the stairs. I kept it all of these years because the kids were so little. I had to keep them somewhat safe. But now that they can run and jump and slide up and down the stairs. Its time to get something that’s easier to clean. I love this. Affordable option right? I think hard wood would look great. But my family is rough. So I’m sure they wouldn’t last a year without chips and dings. I don’t have space in my brain to worry about floors.
You guys have never been invited to the playroom. Maybe you didn’t even know I had one. But I do! We do! It’s pretty empty now but we have purchased some new furniture for the kids now that their out of the color and draw over everything phase, for the most part. I will hang curtains, organize the toys and make it look cute all at the same time! I have a love/hate relationship with toys that has turned into a hate/hate relationship over time, so I will talk about that too! It’s gonna be great!
Last year we made over our courtyard with Home Depot! This year I would love to do the same with our backyard! It’s a nice size yard but needs a little design love. Firepit? Cafe lights? Long dining table? Super heavy outdoor drapes? Yeah, all of that.
♥Build a Home
Kinda caught you off guard with that one huh. haha. Just snuck it in. Yeah, build a home. Not with my bare hands or anything but Reggie and I would love to build our dream home this year. Not a pimped out mega home with marble everything but the bones of a home that we could raise our kids in. The home we have is amazing. I always felt like we would keep it. But I learned a long time ago to never say never. I don’t think there is anything more SOUL filling for me than making a house a HOME. So if we end up doing this then the goals above would be discarded and that would actually be a good thing because, well, I’m not to good about keeping goals anyway! haha!
So here is my board I started for this year! It’s a great reminder of what I want to accomplish this year! What are your plans for this year!
